Love Birds

“I have a hand, and you have another, put them together and we have each other.”

Ramya and Rohit had never thought that there was this typical, lovey-dovey side to each of them, but now that’s exactly the kind of couple they are! The lovely architect duo, who met at the office, cut the ribbon of their love story with a corporate dance competition. The otherwise serious, and workaholic Rohit floored Ramya with his amazing dance skills! They were absolutely inseparable after that and were completely smitten!

When the love birds decided to get married, they knew that they definitely did not want a typical hall wedding. “What we envisioned was a green, intimate wedding that was outdoors. We knew the exact look and feel we wanted and set out to look for a wedding planner who could make it happen,” explains the blushing bride, Ramya.

They started out with a simple Google search and went to meet prospective planners. “We met three other wedding planners before Katha Weddings, but were not getting the right vibe from any of them. They seemed to have a lot of attitude and honestly, we were put off by their lack of understanding about what we wanted. All they did was point out problems, without bothering to offer any kind of solutions. Katha Weddings, on the other hand, was so lively and gave us a lot of suggestions regarding costing and planning. And their recommendation of having Fireflies as our wedding venue, was the cherry on the top!” confesses Rohit, the groom.

Planning this wedding was really interesting and a lot of fun. Ramya and Rohit are one of those really romantic couples who are always holding hands, always lovingly gazing at each other and making everybody around them believe in true love! We used to meet after work almost every day to check through and discuss their dream wedding. On one such occasion, Rohit surprised me with chocolate pastry as I had told them about my sweet tooth during our previous meeting. I was so touched!” gushes a member of Team Katha.

Fireflies Ashram, the wedding venue, which is located on Kanakpura Road, is quite far from the city. But none of the guests could complain once they reached, as it was more or less like an enchanted forest, straight out of a fairy tale that they had stepped into.

The wedding celebrations began with the Sangeet where around two hundred people danced the night away. Right from the entrance of the venue to the insides of the hall, where there was a canopy of fabric and lights, fairy lights were the elementary décor aspect for the evening. There were also rings covered with green leaves and white flowers that adorned the walls in the hall, making for a beautiful backdrop.

The evening was filled with lots of fun performances from both the bride and groom’s families. And considering the couple’s connection to dance, they brought back the romance on the dance floor! Ramya and Rohit enthralled everybody with a choreography containing songs ranging from Kannada to Malayalam to Hindi, including “Tu Meri” which was the first song that they had danced together on! But the highlight of the evening, according to the bride, was when her groom serenaded her with “Enna Sona” along with his band.

The colours for the next day were Peach and Orange. The entrance had a four pillar canopy decked with flowers. There were strings of Marigold and peach fabric hung artfully throughout the venue, including the photo booth which had gold frames as an addition. Another interesting décor element was a pink cart that was decorated with peach fabric and fabric flowers.

The wedding ceremony took place under the huge banyan tree. Since the couple did not want a traditional mandap, Team Katha set up an 8 feet ring against the trunk of the tree as the backdrop. The ring was made of twigs and decorated with flowers while strings of flowers, crystals and ghungroo hung from it. Keeping in mind the colour scheme, there were strings of marigold with bells at the end hanging from the branches of the tree under which the couple got married.

We had been waiting for this to happen for the longest time, so when I entered and saw Rohit waiting for me at the mandap, I couldn’t stop smiling! We were exchanging glances and big, uncontrollable smiles throughout the ceremony and the reception that followed, despite not getting any sleep the previous night. I saw the décor for the first time and was blown away with the way it had all turned out. I am so glad that Katha Weddings helped us make good decisions, so that we could have the wedding of our dreams!” admits the happy newlywed, Ramya.
